During the reign of King Gustav III, Gustav IV and Charles XIII, the history of Sweden is known as the Gustavian Era. As young, King Gustav III visited Louis XVI's Palace of Versailles in Paris and was impressed. King Gustav III dreamed to make Stockholm "the Paris of the North". As such, the Gustavian era is inspired by the French Neoclassicism. However, furniture of the Gustavian era are muted in the colors and used different woods, as well as being more minimalistic than furniture of the era of French Neoclassicism. The furniture and designs of the Gustavian era are so beautiful and elegant.
